A comprehensive list of World Cup Predictions for what teams will exit the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil during the Group Stages.

Intro

With the 2014 World Cup just around the corner, everyone’s taking their shot at predicting the winner. The trophy winner is by far the most popular betting market for the competition, but just as interesting to ponder over is who the earliest tournament exits will come from. Here we’ll take a look at each group in the competition, and take a crack at some group exit World Cup predictions.

Feel free to use any of the predictions below to place some bets on the tournament exits betting market, but keep in mind that they are predictions and not certain bets. As such please bet responsibly and have fun!

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon

Brazil, being tournament favourites, are sure to progress through the group stage. Mexico is looking strong this year, not only in comparison to Croatia and Cameroon, but also in their stunning display in the “Road to Brazil” games, as well as with their Manchester United star Javier Hernandez.

To exit Group A: Cameroon, Croatia

Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia

With such stiff competition in this group, it seems like a no-brainer to say that Spain (the current champions) and the Netherlands (the 2010 runners-up) will progress from the group stage, leaving the comparatively weaker Chilean and Australian sides in their considerable wake.

To exit Group B: Chile, Australia

Group C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan

This may be that hardest group to call as there is no clear dominating power here. Judging on past performances and on the qualifying matches, it seems as though Greece and Ivory Coast will be the teams to progress.

To exit Group C: Colombia, Japan

Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy

England will be hoping to change their poor World Cup reputation, and you’d expect that means at least progressing from the group stages. Italy, having won the competition in 2006, has star potential. As in group B, they’ll likely be leaving the less experienced sides Uruguay and Costa Rica behind.

To exit Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica

Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras

Although France performed dismally in the 2010 World Cup, they are a team everyone expected (and expects) more from. Switzerland played excellently in the group stages in the 2010 World Cup, beating the champions-to-be Spain 1-0. Ecuador and Honduras won’t know what hit them.

To exit Group E: Ecuador, Honduras

Group F: Argentina, Bosnia Herzegovina, Iran, Nigeria

The thought of Argentina leaving the competition in the group stages is preposterous, so it’s really a matter of deciding over the other three. We put Nigeria as the more likely to qualify thanks to their incredible midfield holding ability in John Obi Mikel (Chelsea) and Victor Moses (Liverpool)

To exit Group F: Bosnia Herzegovina, Iran

Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA

As in groups B and D, there is a clear division here between stronger and weaker sides. Portugal (Cristiano Ronaldo) and Germany (Bastian Schweinsteiger), both with incredible offensive and midfield ability, should make short work of Ghana and the USA.

To exit Group G: Ghana, USA

Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, Korea Republic

Belgium is considered by many to be the dark horse of the competition. They have an exciting squad of young, talented players (many of whom are doing excellently in the English Premier League), and Russia, although not by much, stand above the Korean Republic and Algeria in the FIFA world rankings.

To exit Group H: Algeria, Korea Republic
