"Heroic Deeds" is a card game that I have designed and I am describing step by step wikinut. This is a description of a card for the "Heroic Deeds" deck of cards of "Heroic Deeds" there are two other decks already published.

This particular concept of card based gaming is completely my own and I reserve all rights to the game although I invite you to play it freely as well as to print out as many cards as you need for personal use. Any attempt to market this game in any way must first be permitted by myself.

An overview of "Heroic Deeds" a real RPG card game

"Heroic Deeds" is a card based roleplaying conceived and designed by myself. You can read all about it in previous articles I have published by clicking Here and Here.
The game is designed to be played by several players and one storyteller. I am publishing the cards for this game, one at a time here on wikinut and I invite readers to comment and make suggestions at any time.

Using the "Heroic deeds" deck of cards

As previously described, the "Heroic Deeds" deck is used to help the players design their heroes for the game. The cards also help determine guidelines and limitations on what heroes can accomplish. Typically, every hero gets to draw four "Heroic Deeds" cards. It is possible to draw more than one of the same card. Players generally get to determine precisely how the cards they have drawn will help define who their hero is and what he can do.

Heroic magic item

Heroes sometimes enjoy powers and benefits derived from magical items. Although this story mechanism can be drawn from any of the other "Heroic deeds" cards so that a player who draws the "Heroic leaping" card can decide that his powers of jumping are derived from his magical boots, for example. Nonetheless, sometimes magical items can encompass more than one area of use or provide powers not directly related to an existing "Heroic deeds" card. In such a case, these can be obtained with the "Heroic magic item" card. The major advantage of this card in character creation is that it provides a sort of wild card for the player to use. The draw back of the card is that the hero's power is dependent on an external item. This item could theoretically be stolen, lost or otherwise removed from the hero thus preventing him from benefiting from the item's properties and perhaps even giving that benefit to his enemies.

Choosing between broad and narrow and multiple cards

As with other "Heroic deeds" card, a player drawing the "Heroic magic item" card must decide how narrow or broad he would like to define his card. A narrower definition would provide an item with greater power but lesser applicability whereas a broader definition would grant less power but a broader range of use. A broad definition could be, for example a flying carpet - with this device the hero could transport himself and his friends swiftly from place to place. Since most adventures require travel of some sort, this would be a very useful device to have. Expending the card could allow for fancy aerial maneuvers, effective use in combat etc. A narrow definition might be for a magical lockpick. capable of picking any lock. Such an item might certainly come in useful at some point in the adventure but is hardly going to put to constant use. A single use definition for this card could allow the hero to not choose any specific item - allowing him at some later point to conjure a single item for a temporary use in resolving a situation.
It is possible to draw multiple cards of "Heroic magic item" allowing the hero to possess two different items or perhaps increase the power of an existing item. Players and storytellers should be cautioned that placing too much power externally to the player risks detracting from the fun of the game. Therefore, should the player wish to redraw one of his "Heroic magic item" cards, this should be allowed.
