Betting on the Football World Cup
Successful World Cup betting is about more than being able to predict the outcome of a World Cup match. The following useful World Cup Betting tips will help you maximize your profits from the tournament, giving you better opportunities to score off your winning bets.
Use Free Bets
All of the most trusted bookmakers in Europe and the United Kingdom offer free bet packages to new account holders. To qualify for a free bet from a bookmaker, all you need to do is open an online betting account, deposit funds and place a bet.
Once you have placed your bet your account will be credited with a free bet equal to your stake. You can then use this bet on any World Cup betting market of your choice. Using free bets is an easy way to double your bankroll, with thousands of dollars worth of free bets available online.
Visit an Exchange
Many football fans make the mistake of only placing their World Cup bets at fixed odds bookmakers, missing out on the excellent opportunities opened up by leading betting exchanges likes Betfair and WBX.
Betting exchanges offer Word Cup odds that are, on average, 15% higher than fixed odds bookmakers, ensuring you get the best return when you place a successful bet. You are also given the option of setting your own odds for any betting market on the exchange.
Place Lay Bets
Betting exchanges also offer you the opportunity to place lay bets, or bets against something happening in a betting market. Lay betting is very useful when betting on football matches as it allows you to cover two outcomes with a single bet.
When you lay a team in a football match, you are effectively betting that the team won’t win the match. This means that your bet will pay out if the other team wins and if the World Cup match ends in a draw. By placing lay bets, you significantly increase you chances of winning a World Cup bet!
Use Odds Comparisons
Don’t forget to use an odds comparison service when placing bets on the Football World Cup. World Cup odds comparison services provide information on how the odds offered by leading bookmakers compare for any popular football betting market.
This can be very useful when you are trying to get the best odds on a betting option that is offering low odds. What’s more, if you make full use of an odds comparison service you’ll benefit from a free bet every time you register and bet with a new bookmaker.
Bet Live
Live betting is rapidly becoming more popular than fixed-odds betting with punters around the world. Live betting markets give you the opportunity to bet on a World Cup football match at any stage of the game.
This allows you to quickly respond to red cards, injuries and disappointing form, along with other circumstances that are difficult to predict when placing bets ahead of your chosen World Cup betting fixture.

Nice article - just some feedback. Sure betting on live games will help you see the teams performance, and any other things that can not be seen before - but also the odds drop dramatically the longer the games is running - so smaller returns (because it gets easier for the better). Also lay bets - sure it increases your odds of winning but also the returns get smaller than say on a normal bet, So the safer you bet the greater your odds but the smaller the potential return.
